THE TALE OF KING AHAZIAH: LEGACY OF SHADOWS PART 1: THE FALL FROM THE ROOFTOP — WHEN A FALL BECOMES A TEST OF WHERE YOU TURN 2 KINGS 1:2 In 2 Kings 1:2, we are introduced to a troubling moment in the life of King Ahaziah. The king suffers a serious fall through the lattice of his upper room in Samaria and becomes badly injured. In his pain, uncertainty, and fear, he sends messengers—not to inquire of the Lord—but to seek counsel from Baal-Zebub, the god of Ekron, asking whether he would recover. This is not just the story of a man who had an accident. It is the story of a man whose crisis exposed the true condition of his heart. Ahaziah’s fall did not merely injure his body; it revealed where his trust was anchored. Moments of weakness often uncover what years of strength have hidden . When life shakes us, what we run to reveals what truly rules us. The first major lesson in Ahaziah’s story is this: a fall is bad, but turning to the wrong source after the fall is even more dangerous . ...

THE BLACK BOX: FINDING THE TRUTH AFTER THE CRASH
PART 2: CRASH-PROOF CONSTRUCTION: WHY THE BLACK BOX SURVIVES WHEN EVERYTHING ELSE BURNS

Proverbs 10:25

When the storm has swept by, the wicked are gone, but the righteous stand firm forever."

Recap from Part 1 — Hooked by a Word

Last time, we spoke about how, after any disaster, the first thing investigators look for is the black box — because it holds the truth of what happened. We likened this to God’s coming harvest, when all hidden deeds will be brought to light.

We also shared how a brief mention of the term black box by the blogger I follow on YouTube hooked my interest and sparked this research series.

When a plane goes down, much of it is destroyed — yet the black box almost always survives.

Why? Because it’s built with layers of protection: heat shields for fire, shock absorbers for impact, insulation for water, and casing to withstand pressure.

It isn’t built on the assumption that everything will go smoothly. It’s built knowing that one day, it might face the unthinkable.

God builds His people the same way. He doesn’t prepare you for a trouble-free life — He equips you to withstand impact.

Spiritually, He deepens your roots in Scripture so your faith won’t be uprooted.

Physically, He trains you to steward your health so your body can carry you through long battles.

Emotionally, He develops resilience so heartbreak doesn’t shatter you.

Relationally, He surrounds you with godly connections who can stand with you when you can’t stand alone.

Mentally, He shapes discipline and focus so fear and confusion don’t hijack your thinking.

Like the black box, your survival in a crash doesn’t come from avoiding storms — but from what has already been built inside you.

If you feel like God is laying pressure on your life right now, don’t resent it. That’s His crash-proof construction at work.

🔁 Reflection:

What layer of your life is God strengthening right now?

Are you ignoring your spiritual

while focusing only on the physical? Or building your career but neglecting your emotional stability?

The black box survives because every layer matters. So does every part of you.

💥 Call to Action:

As you step into the weekend, choose one area of your life that’s been neglected — spiritual, physical, emotional, relational, or mental.

Commit to one concrete step today, and carry it with you through the week ahead.

💬 Let’s Talk:

Which layer of your life feels most under construction right now?

Can you recall a time when a habit, skill, or relationship built long before helped you survive a crisis?

🙏Prayer

Lord, thank You for caring enough to prepare me for challenges I can’t yet see.

Build my spirit, my body, my emotions, my relationships, and my mind so I can stand firm through life’s impacts.

Teach me to embrace the process, even when it feels uncomfortable. Amen.
