THE ARROW, THE QUIVER, AND THE WARRIOR PART 6: THE ARROW MUST NOT MISS THE TARGET

THE ARROW, THE QUIVER, AND THE WARRIOR PART 6: THE ARROW MUST NOT MISS THE TARGET Philippians 3:13–14 (NKJV) “Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize… ” In Part 5, we examined what happens when the quiver fails the arrow. We established that the environment has a responsibility to prepare, sharpen, and position the arrow for its assignment. But preparation alone is not enough. An arrow can be well-prepared and still miss its target if it loses direction. EVERY ARROW HAS A TARGET An arrow is not made to remain in the quiver. It is made to be released towards a target. Likewise, God has not called us merely to exist, attend church, occupy positions, or accumulate Christian experiences. He has called us to fulfil His purpose. The question is: Are you moving towards your God-given target, or have you lost direction a...

ARISE, KILL AND EAT PART 10: WHEN THE WORD MEETS A PREPARED HEART

ARISE, KILL AND EAT PART 10: WHEN THE WORD MEETS A PREPARED HEART Acts 10:30–33 (NLT) “Cornelius replied, ‘Four days ago I was praying in my house about this same time, three o’clock in the afternoon. Suddenly, a man in dazzling clothes was standing in front of me. He told me, “Cornelius, your prayer has been heard, and your gifts to the poor have been noticed by God! Now send messengers to Joppa and summon a man named Simon Peter. He is staying in the house of Simon, a tanner who lives near the seashore.” So I sent for you at once, and you have done well to come. Now we are all here, waiting before God to hear the message the Lord has given you.’” In Part 9, we discovered that worship must give way to the Word. Cornelius had fallen at Peter's feet, but Peter immediately corrected him. He refused to receive worship that belonged only to God. Peter understood that he was a vessel, not the source. We also learned that supernatural experiences must never replace God's Word. Cornel...

ARISE, KILL AND EAT PART 9: WHEN WORSHIP MUST GIVE WAY TO THE WORD

ARISE, KILL AND EAT PART 9: WHEN WORSHIP MUST GIVE WAY TO THE WORD Acts 10:27–29 (NLT) “Talking with him, Peter went inside and found a large gathering of people. Peter told them, ‘You know it is against our laws for a Jewish man to enter a Gentile home like this or to associate with you. But God has shown me that I should no longer think of anyone as impure or unclean. So I came without objection as soon as I was sent for. Now tell me why you sent for me.’” In Part 8, we discovered that God can prepare the room before He sends the messenger. Peter finally arrived at Cornelius' house. But he did not find an empty room. Cornelius had gathered his relatives and close friends. They were waiting. They were ready. They were expecting something from God. Peter also discovered something important: His obedience had brought him into a prepared environment. God had prepared Cornelius. God had prepared Peter. And God had prepared the people. But when Peter entered the house, something happen...

ARISE, KILL AND EAT PART 8: WHEN YOU ARRIVE AT THE PLACE GOD SENT YOU

ARISE, KILL AND EAT PART 8: WHEN YOU ARRIVE AT THE PLACE GOD SENT YOU Acts 10:24–26 (NLT) “They arrived in Caesarea the following day. Cornelius was waiting for them and had called together his relatives and close friends. When Peter entered his home, Cornelius fell at his feet and worshiped him. But Peter made him get up. ‘Stand up,’ he said, ‘I am a man just like you!’” In Part 7, we discovered that obedience sometimes takes us where we never planned to go. Peter had been instructed by the Holy Spirit to go with the men sent by Cornelius. It was an unfamiliar assignment. It crossed cultural and religious boundaries. Peter had to leave what was familiar and move toward people he would not naturally have approached. But Peter went. And we learned an important lesson: Your unfamiliar territory may be someone else's answered prayer. Peter did not know what awaited him in Caesarea. But God did. Now Peter has arrived. And what he discovers teaches us something powerful about divine pre...
