WHEN SCRIPTURE BECOMES YOUR PRAYER PART 3: PRAYER — RESPONDING TO THE BLUEPRINT 1 John 5:14 (NIV) “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.”   In the first two parts, we established two important things. Scripture is God's written message. And Scripture is like God's blueprint. But now comes the practical question: What do we do with the blueprint when we pray? The answer is simple: We respond to it.  Think about receiving a letter from someone you love. You read the letter, and the person tells you something important. Maybe they say, “ I will be coming to see you.”  You don't read the letter and simply put it away. You respond. You might say: “ I'm looking forward to seeing you.” Or: “ Thank you for letting me know .” The message came from them, but your response comes from you. That is one way to understand prayer. EHUD: THE LEFT-HANDED WARRIOR AND JUDGE PART 9: WHEN GOD DELAYS THE DISCOVERY Judges 3:24–25 (NLT) "After Ehud was gone, the king's servants returned and found the doors to the upstairs room locked. They thought he might be using the latrine in the room. So they waited. But when the king didn't come out after a long delay, they became concerned and got a key. And when they opened the doors, they found their master dead on the floor." In Part 8, we learned that after carrying out God's assignment, Ehud closed and locked the doors before making his escape. We discovered that lasting victory requires us to close every door that could lead us back into bondage. Now the story takes another unexpected turn. The king's servants returned. They found the doors locked. But instead of opening them immediately, they waited. What appeared to be an ordinary delay was actually part of God's perfect timing. In Part 7, we witnessed the fall of King Eglon. The hidden weapon was finally revealed, and God's judgment was executed against the oppressor of Israel. We learned that victory over the flesh requires decisive obedience and that God's Word cuts away everything that stands against His purpose. But the story does not end with Eglon's fall. Before Ehud escaped, he did something that many readers overlook. He closed and locked the doors of the upper room. At first glance, this may seem like an insignificant detail. Yet, as we have seen throughout this series, God never wastes words. Every detail recorded in Scripture invites us to look deeper. EHUD: THE LEFT-HANDED WARRIOR AND JUDGE PART 7: THE FALL OF THE FLESH Judges 3:21–22 (NLT) "Ehud reached with his left hand, pulled out the dagger strapped to his right thigh, and plunged it into the king's belly. The dagger went so deep that the handle disappeared beneath the king's fat. So Ehud did not pull out the dagger, and the king's bowels emptied." In Part 6, we learned that what King Eglon expected to be a secret conversation became a divine appointment. Ehud stood before the king not with his own agenda, but with a message from God. The room had been emptied. The message had been delivered. The king had risen from his seat. Now, the moment of decision had come. In Part 3, we discovered that God intentionally chose Ehud, a left-handed man from the tribe of Benjamin, to deliver Israel from the oppression of Moab. What people may have considered unusual, God considered useful. Ehud's left hand was not a disadvantage; it was part of God's strategy. But before Ehud ever stood before King Eglon, before he entered the palace, and before he became known as a deliverer, there was something that had to happen first. A weapon had to be prepared. In Part 2, we saw that after eighteen years of oppression, Israel finally cried out to the Lord. Their cry reached heaven, and God responded—not because they deserved deliverance, but because of His unfailing mercy. God raised an unexpected deliverer named Ehud . Before he became Israel's rescuer, he was simply entrusted with the ordinary task of delivering tribute to King Eglon . What appeared to be an ordinary assignment was actually God's divine positioning for an extraordinary purpose.
