THE REDEMPTIVE POWER OF GOD: ELISHA AND THE WIDOW'S JAR OF OIL PART 5: THE DISCIPLINE OF THE SECRET PLACE — WHEN MIRACLES REQUIRE CLOSED DOORS 2 KINGS 4:4-5 In Part 4, we learned that miracles often involve movement, obedience, and action. The widow was instructed to go out, borrow vessels, and gather what was needed. We saw that God’s instructions often require participation, and that obedience is a key that unlocks divine provision. Now the story moves from the outside world into the inside space of encounter. After the vessels were gathered, something very significant happens in the process of the miracle. The next instruction is not about movement—but about isolation. God begins to shift the widow from public obedience to private encounter. In 2 Kings 4:4-5, Elisha gives a new instruction: “ Go in and shut the door behind you and your sons … ” This moment is deeply spiritual. Before the oil flows, the door must be closed. This teaches us that some dimensions of God’s power are ...

PRESERVING OUR INTEGRITY: BEING THE SALT OF THE EARTH PART 3

Matthew 5:13

"You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot."

Welcome to Part 3 of our series, Preserving Our Integrity: Being the Salt of the Earth. In our previous sessions, we uncovered the challenges of maintaining integrity and the consequences of losing it. Today, we continue this journey by reflecting on a real-life story that illustrates both the struggle and the path to victory in preserving our integrity.

The Story of My Lecturer

Years ago, a Bible school lecturer who taught me in the school of ministry shared a testimony that deeply impacted me. Though highly anointed and called by God, he privately battled against addictions—pornography, fornication, and masturbation.

No matter how much he prayed and fasted, the stronghold remained. Often, he would break his fast not in victory but in the very acts he was striving to overcome. On the outside, he was a man of God, leading others in righteousness, but internally, he was wrestling with a hidden darkness.

A Divine Revelation

In desperation, he turned to God, crying out for deliverance. God’s response was direct and profound:

"You are struggling because of what you have fed your mind. You read it in; now, you must read it out."

At first, the Apostle didn’t understand, but as he reflected, it became clear. His addiction had been built over time by constantly consuming immoral materials like pornography magazines. The enemy had gained access to his mind through what he had exposed himself to.

The Journey to Freedom

Determined to break free, he embarked on an intense spiritual renewal. He read the entire Bible from Genesis to Revelation—not once, but three times. He filled his mind with the Word of God, replacing the corrupt seeds sown by past indulgences.

With each chapter, his spirit grew stronger, and the chains of addiction weakened. The more he fed on God’s truth, the less room sin had in his life. Over time, through the power of Scripture and the Holy Spirit, he overcame and was restored to integrity.

Lessons on Integrity

1. Acknowledging Weaknesses.
Integrity begins with honesty—first with God, then with ourselves. The Apostle’s journey teaches us that true transformation starts when we stop pretending and start confronting our struggles.

2. The Power of God's Word.
Just as he "read  out" the darkness by immersing himself in Scripture, we too must guard our minds. What we feed our spirit shapes our integrity. God's Word is the purifier that keeps us 'salty' and effective in our Christian walk.

What are you feeding your mind? Evaluate what you are consuming daily. Does it strengthen or weaken your integrity?

Take up the challenge: Commit to immersing yourself in the Word of God. Begin a structured Bible study plan and allow His truth to reshape you.

Seek accountability. If you’re struggling with hidden battles, find a trusted spiritual mentor to guide and pray with you.

PRAYER:

Lord, help me to guard my mind and heart, filling them with Your truth. May I walk in integrity, reflecting Your righteousness in all I do. Strengthen me to remain the salt of the earth. Amen.

Thank you!
