THE UNPROFITABLE PROFIT: GAINS THAT BANKRUPT THE SOUL PART 12: FINAL LAP: THE PROFITABLE LIFE — WHEN THE SOUL IS PRESERVED AND REWARDED
Genesis 2:5 (NLT):
“...For the LORD God had not caused it to rain on the earth, and there was no man to cultivate the ground.”
Previously, we discovered that dormancy is not death — it’s divine development. God hides potential in stillness and releases the mist of grace to sustain us while we prepare to cultivate what He has given.
Before God sent the rain, He looked for a man — a steward, a cultivator, a caretaker.
The heavens were full of potential, but the earth was waiting for participation. God’s delay was not about the weather; it was about stewardship.
This truth is timeless: God doesn’t send rain where there’s no one ready to manage the harvest.
In the Kingdom, blessings aren’t random — they’re entrusted. And when heaven finds no steward, it withholds its rain.
1. Heaven Waits for a Responsible Heart
God didn’t create a garden and then go looking for man; He created the man to maintain what He planned.
Heaven’s order is stewardship — receive, manage, and multiply.
Too many times, people pray for increase when they’ve not proven faithful over what’s already in their hands.
Before promotion comes preparation, and before provision comes proof of responsibility.
💡 Principle: Heaven releases rain where faithfulness already reigns.
What’s in your hand right now that heaven is testing? A relationship? A gift? A responsibility?
Don’t wait for rain before you start working — start working, and the rain will come.
2. God’s Delays Are Stewardship Tests
The absence of rain wasn’t punishment — it was preparation.
God was teaching the earth a pattern: “I only water what’s being worked.”
You may be in a dry season right now, but that dryness may be God’s way of revealing if you’ll still be faithful when it’s hard.
Heaven’s blessings aren’t just attracted by need — they’re drawn by diligence.
Practical Reflection:
If you’re asking God for rain, ask yourself — am I working the ground or waiting for someone else to do it?
3. Stewardship Unlocks Sustainability
When God found a man to till the ground, He didn’t just send rain — He sent rhythm.
Rain falls, crops grow, man harvests, man gives thanks, and the cycle continues. That’s divine sustainability.
Your stewardship today determines your sustenance tomorrow.
God blesses faithful hands because they ensure His blessings don’t go to waste.
In other words, God invests in good managers.
🌧 Spiritual Truth: God doesn’t reward ownership; He rewards stewardship. Everything you have is borrowed grace.
🌻 Reflection:
If God were to “send rain” into your life right now, would what you’re managing survive it — or sink under it?
The real question is not, “When will it rain?” but “Am I ready for it to rain?”
🙏🏽 Prayer:
Father, make me a faithful steward of everything You’ve entrusted to me.
Teach me to work the ground before expecting rain. Help me to serve diligently, manage wisely, and multiply faithfully what You’ve given. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Next Up: Part 4 — The Coming Mist: Grace in Dry Seasons
When God finally allowed mist to rise from the ground, it wasn’t just moisture — it was mercy. Before rain ever fell from the heavens, grace first rose from the earth.
In the next part, we’ll uncover how God refreshes us quietly in seasons where nothing seems to grow — and how His unseen mist often keeps us alive before the flood of blessings arrives.
