THE REDEMPTIVE POWER OF GOD: ELISHA AND THE WIDOW'S JAR OF OIL PART 5: THE DISCIPLINE OF THE SECRET PLACE — WHEN MIRACLES REQUIRE CLOSED DOORS 2 KINGS 4:4-5 In Part 4, we learned that miracles often involve movement, obedience, and action. The widow was instructed to go out, borrow vessels, and gather what was needed. We saw that God’s instructions often require participation, and that obedience is a key that unlocks divine provision. Now the story moves from the outside world into the inside space of encounter. After the vessels were gathered, something very significant happens in the process of the miracle. The next instruction is not about movement—but about isolation. God begins to shift the widow from public obedience to private encounter. In 2 Kings 4:4-5, Elisha gives a new instruction: “ Go in and shut the door behind you and your sons … ” This moment is deeply spiritual. Before the oil flows, the door must be closed. This teaches us that some dimensions of God’s power are ...

THE CALL BEYOND THE WALL. PART 7: THE RIPENING FRUIT

THE CALL BEYOND THE WALL.
PART 7: THE RIPENING FRUIT

  Song of Songs 2:13

“The fig tree ripens its figs, and the vines are in blossom; they give forth fragrance. Arise, my love, my beautiful one, and come away.”

As Ama continued her journey with the Beloved, the atmosphere around her began to change. What was once cold and silent became filled with color, sound, and gentle whispers. From hearing His voice across the wall to recognizing His Spirit’s quiet call, Ama began walking into a new season—a season of restoration. The soil of her heart had been softened. But now, something deeper was happening: her life was beginning to bear fruit.

📜 Verse Breakdown and Imagery

This verse reveals a moment of transformation from growth to fruitfulness:

The fig tree ripens its figs” – This is not just the sprouting of leaves—it’s the production of fruit. Figs ripening symbolizes maturity, productivity, and spiritual evidence of inner change.

Vines are in blossom; they give forth fragrance” – Blossoming vines point to beauty and influence. But even more, the fragrance shows that others can now sense the change. It’s not just visible—it’s tangible and impacting.

Then again, the Beloved repeats:

Arise, My love, My beautiful one, and come away.”

It's a reminder that fruitfulness is not the final destination. There’s always more—deeper intimacy, higher purpose, greater joy.

🕊️ Ama’s Story: “Fruit I Didn't Expect

Ama didn’t realize how much she’d changed until others started noticing.

Your smile’s different lately,” her roommate said one morning.

You were so calm in that argument yesterday. That’s not the Ama I used to know,” another friend teased.

And during a fellowship meeting, a freshman approached her.

You prayed something last semester… it stuck with me and helped me through a rough time.”

Ama was stunned.

She hadn’t planned to be fruitful. She was just responding to love, following the whispers, and healing in God’s presence.

But now, she saw it—fruit was ripening in her life.

Patience where she once reacted

Joy where she once shut down

Discernment where she once felt confused

And through it all, the same voice whispered again:

Arise. There’s more. Come away.”

💭 Reflection

What fruit is beginning to appear in your life—spiritually, emotionally, or relationally?

Have you noticed how your quiet time with God is now bearing public results?

Are you willing to “arise” again—not to settle in success, but to go deeper?

📣 Call to Action

📍Take a moment today to identify 2 or 3 “fruits” God is producing in your life—like patience, boldness, peace, wisdom.

Write this beneath them:

Lord, keep ripening this in me.”

🙏🏽 Prayer

Lord, thank You for producing fruit in my life, even in ways I didn’t see coming. Help me stay connected to You so that what blossoms in me reflects You. Teach me to respond when You call me again—because there’s always more in You. Amen.

Part 8: In the Clefts of the Rock

“O my dove, in the clefts of the rock… let me hear your voice.”

Even in our most fruitful seasons, we still hide pieces of ourselves. In the next part, the Beloved gently calls us out of the shadows—inviting us to let Him into the places we've been too afraid to show anyone.
