THE REDEMPTIVE POWER OF GOD: ELISHA AND THE WIDOW'S JAR OF OIL PART 5: THE DISCIPLINE OF THE SECRET PLACE — WHEN MIRACLES REQUIRE CLOSED DOORS 2 KINGS 4:4-5 In Part 4, we learned that miracles often involve movement, obedience, and action. The widow was instructed to go out, borrow vessels, and gather what was needed. We saw that God’s instructions often require participation, and that obedience is a key that unlocks divine provision. Now the story moves from the outside world into the inside space of encounter. After the vessels were gathered, something very significant happens in the process of the miracle. The next instruction is not about movement—but about isolation. God begins to shift the widow from public obedience to private encounter. In 2 Kings 4:4-5, Elisha gives a new instruction: “ Go in and shut the door behind you and your sons … ” This moment is deeply spiritual. Before the oil flows, the door must be closed. This teaches us that some dimensions of God’s power are ...

THE CALL BEYOND THE WALL. PART 2: BEHIND THE WALL

THE CALL BEYOND THE WALL.
PART 2: BEHIND THE WALL

Song of Songs 2:9

“My beloved is like a gazelle or a young stag. Behold, he stands behind our wall, gazing through the windows, looking through the lattice.”

In Part 1, Ama heard the voice of her Beloved calling from afar, leaping over mountains—reminding her of how Jesus passionately pursues us, no matter the distance.

📜 Verse Breakdown and Imagery

In this verse, we see a still moment—after the wild leaps and bounds in verse 8. The Beloved stops. He stands behind the wall, watching, waiting.

The imagery is rich:

Gazelle” or “young stag”: These are symbols of strength, grace, and alertness. They suggest both passion and restraint.

Behind our wall”: This isn’t just physical. It’s emotional distance, spiritual avoidance, or even self-protection.

Gazing through the windows… the lattice”: He’s looking in—not invading, but pursuing with patience. The lattice speaks of partial vision. He sees just enough to know we’re inside.

This is a picture of Jesus when we’ve built walls—when we’re still inside, uncertain, ashamed, or unavailable. He doesn’t force entry. But He stays close.

🕊️ Ama’s Story: “Peeking Through the Lattice”

Ama sat at her study desk, but her mind wasn’t on her notes. She had opened her Bible to Song of Songs after yesterday’s strange awakening. The voice she heard—that pull in her heart—it still lingered.

And then she read:

He stands behind our wall.”

Her heart sank. That was her. The wall was real. She’d built it brick by brick:

One bad decision

One ignored conviction

One postponed prayer

One heartbreak she didn’t tell God about

Now, there was a spiritual lattice between her and Jesus. She knew He was there. She could feel His gaze in worship services, in people’s prayers, even in little moments of beauty during her day.

But she wouldn’t come out.

And yet—He stayed. Not knocking violently. Not leaving. Just watching. Waiting. Like Kojo used to. Like someone who still believed in her.

She whispered into the silence:

“Jesus… are You still there?”

A stillness answered her back—warm, peaceful, and patient.

He was.

And He always had been.

💭 Reflection

What walls have you built between you and God—shame, busyness, fear?

Can you still feel Him peeking through the windows of your soul?

Are you willing to at least let Him be near?

🙏🏽 Prayer

Jesus, I’ve kept You behind walls for too long. But thank You for still standing there. For still looking through the cracks, still loving me. Help me let You in—brick by brick. Amen.

📣 Call to Action

📍Identify one “brick” in your wall today—just one thing keeping you distant from God.

Write it down. Then say:

“Jesus, I give You this brick. Come closer.”

Part 3: Arise and Come Away

“My beloved spoke and said to me: ‘Arise, My love, My beautiful one, and come away.’”

He’s not just watching

—He’s calling you out of the hidden place into the beauty of His presence. Will you rise when He calls?
