THE REDEMPTIVE POWER OF GOD: ELISHA AND THE WIDOW'S JAR OF OIL PART 5: THE DISCIPLINE OF THE SECRET PLACE — WHEN MIRACLES REQUIRE CLOSED DOORS 2 KINGS 4:4-5 In Part 4, we learned that miracles often involve movement, obedience, and action. The widow was instructed to go out, borrow vessels, and gather what was needed. We saw that God’s instructions often require participation, and that obedience is a key that unlocks divine provision. Now the story moves from the outside world into the inside space of encounter. After the vessels were gathered, something very significant happens in the process of the miracle. The next instruction is not about movement—but about isolation. God begins to shift the widow from public obedience to private encounter. In 2 Kings 4:4-5, Elisha gives a new instruction: “ Go in and shut the door behind you and your sons … ” This moment is deeply spiritual. Before the oil flows, the door must be closed. This teaches us that some dimensions of God’s power are ...

THE CALL BEYOND THE WALL. PART 1: "THE VOICE OF MY BELOVED”

THE CALL BEYOND THE WALL.
PART 1: "THE VOICE OF MY BELOVED”

Song of Songs 2:8

“The voice of my beloved! Behold, he comes, leaping over the mountains, bounding over the hills.”

📜 Verse Breakdown and Imagery

This verse introduces a powerful image: a lover approaching from a distance, crossing impossible terrain—leaping over mountains and bounding over hills—just to reach his beloved.

The “voice” here is more than sound; it's a symbol of presence, recognition, intimacy, and even awakening. The woman doesn’t see him first—she hears him. In spiritual language, this echoes how God speaks to us before we even realize He's near.

The imagery of leaping and bounding symbolizes:

Urgency in love

Obstacles being no barrier

The effort God (our Beloved) makes to reach us no matter how far we are emotionally, spiritually, or mentally.

This is Jesus, our heavenly Lover, passionately pursuing us—even when we’ve drifted far away.

🕊️ Ama’s Story: “The Voice That Still Finds Me”

Ama sat on her hostel bed with her phone in hand, swiping through her playlist, looking for something that would match the emptiness she felt. Life had gotten fast. Between exams, social expectations, and the recent silence from someone she cared about, her heart had grown heavy.

Then suddenly, her old phone buzzed. A voice note from Kojo, dated a year ago, popped up.

“Hey Ama! I just wanted you to know—you’re amazing. Never forget that. I’m rooting for you.”

She smiled and closed her eyes. The sound of his voice brought back memories—how he’d show up outside her house, yelling her name like a child, just to give her an orange or sing a silly song.

But as she lay still, a deeper Voice whispered—not through her phone, but through her heart:

“I still call you. I’m still leaping mountains for you.”

She froze. That wasn’t Kojo.

That was Jesus.

She hadn’t prayed in weeks. She hadn’t opened her Bible. But in that moment, she recognized the voice of her Beloved—calm, pursuing, tender.

He was near.

💭 Reflection

Can you recognize when Jesus is calling you—through memories, songs, quiet moments?

Are there "mountains" you think disqualify you from His love?

What does His "voice" sound like to you today?

🙏🏽 Prayer

Dear Jesus, thank You for pursuing me even when I’ve been distant. Help me recognize Your voice again. Let it echo louder than my distractions, doubts, or shame. Leap over every wall I’ve built and remind me that You still call me Yours. Amen.

📣 Call to Action

📍Take 10 minutes in silence today.

No worship music. No distractions. Just ask:

“Jesus, help me hear Your voice again.”

Then wait. Listen. Write what you feel.
