THE UNPROFITABLE PROFIT: GAINS THAT BANKRUPT THE SOUL PART 12: FINAL LAP: THE PROFITABLE LIFE — WHEN THE SOUL IS PRESERVED AND REWARDED
Song of Songs 2:16
“My beloved is mine, and I am his; he grazes among the lilies.”
Ama had been bearing fruit, blooming in grace, but the Beloved warned her not to let “little foxes” sneak in and spoil what was blossoming. She listened, repented, and began guarding her vineyard—her life, her habits, her devotion. Now, something new is awakening in her: not just restoration, not just fruit—but assurance. She doesn’t just feel loved anymore; she knows she belongs.
📜 Verse Breakdown and Imagery
This verse is one of the most quoted in Song of Songs—and for good reason. It is a declaration of mutual belonging and sacred love.
“My beloved is mine, and I am his” – This speaks of covenant intimacy, not casual closeness. It’s not a crush, a mood, or a moment—it’s identity and relationship. It reflects the same kind of love Jesus has for His Bride, the Church.
This is possession without control, closeness without fear, mutual joy without striving.
“He grazes among the lilies” – Lilies symbolize purity, peace, and beauty. To graze there means He is settled and satisfied. Your life, surrendered to Him, is now a place He delights in. He is not in a hurry to leave. You are His resting place.
This verse invites us to stop striving for God’s love and start abiding in it.
🕊️ Ama’s Story: “The Knowing”
It had been weeks since that first call—the whisper, the invitation, the awakening.
Now Ama sat beneath a tree on campus with her Bible open—not because she had to, but because she wanted to.
Her journal entry that day was simple:
“Jesus, You’re not far anymore. I know You’re mine. And I’m Yours.”
There was no fear of messing up. No anxiety about being “spiritual enough.” Just a quiet confidence.
Later that evening, as she worshipped alone in her room, she sensed His presence—not in goosebumps or tears this time, but in peace.
Like He was grazing among the lilies.
Like her life had become a place He enjoyed being.
She smiled.
This wasn’t religion. This was belonging.
She didn’t need to chase Him down.
He had come home.
