WHAT ARE YOU FEEDING THE NEXT GENERATION? PART 4: WHAT ARE YOU PRODUCING? Galatians 5:22–23 (NLT) “But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!” In Part 1, we asked: WHAT ARE YOU FEEDING YOURSELF? We learned that what we consume matters because what we feed can grow. In Part 2, we asked: WHAT HAPPENS INSIDE YOU? We learned that what enters us must be processed. Hearing the Word is not enough. The Word must enter our hearts and transform our lives. PART 5: THE POWER OF PERSUASION



Numbers 10:29-32

Moses said to Hobab, the son of Reuel the Midianite, his father-in-law, “We are journeying to the place the Lord promised to give us. Come with us, and we will treat you well, for the Lord has spoken good concerning Israel.”

But Hobab replied, “I will not go, but return to my own land and family.”

Then Moses said, “Please do not leave us. You know how we are to camp in the wilderness, and you can be our eyes. And if you go with us, whatever good the Lord does to us, we will do to you.”


RECAP OF PART 4:When They Say No

Last time, we learned a powerful truth: rejection doesn't stop the mission. Even when Hobab declined Moses’ invitation, the journey wasn’t over. We were encouraged to trust God’s plan and move forward, even when people walk away. Their “no” doesn’t cancel God’s “yes.”


After Hobab declined, Moses didn’t get offended—he persisted. He saw the value Hobab could bring and tried again. This reveals the beauty and purpose of godly persuasion—not manipulation, but a Spirit-led appeal rooted in vision, relationship, and mutual benefit.



Don’t Be Afraid to Ask Again

Moses says, “Please do not leave us. You know where we should camp in the wilderness, and you can be our eyes.” This shows the humility of a leader who knows the value of people. Moses was led by God but still acknowledged human help. It wasn’t desperation—it was discernment.


Scripture Highlight:

“But Moses said, ‘Please do not leave us. You know where we should camp in the wilderness, and you can be our eyes.’” – Numbers 10:31



Life Application:

Sometimes, the breakthrough lies in persistence. Don’t be too quick to give up on people. A second conversation might be the turning point. It’s not weakness to ask again—it’s wisdom when led by the Spirit. Likewise, don’t dismiss those who come back to ask you again either.


God often honors those who are willing to try again. Moses teaches us that persuasion rooted in humility and purpose can open doors. When led by God, a second attempt may align hearts and callings in powerful ways.




REFLECTION:

Have you given up on a valuable connection too quickly?

Is there someone God is prompting you to revisit or invite again?

Do you need to humble yourself to make a second appeal or hear one?





Call to Action:

Revisit one conversation you walked away from too quickly.

Ask God for grace and wisdom to communicate again with humility.

Practice godly persuasion—truth with love—for the sake of a greater vision.






PRAYER:

Father, give me the grace to know when to try again. Help me walk in humility and wisdom, not pride or fear. Teach me how to communicate with love, and when to ask again. Let every connection You’ve ordained be preserved by Your Spirit, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

When Moses asked Hobab to stay, he didn’t just want company—he wanted clarity. “You can be our eyes,” he said. In the next part, we’ll explore how God places people in our lives as compasses—not just to walk with us, but to help us see. Recognizing and honoring the guidance others carry can be the key to navigating the wilderness wisely.
