THE REDEMPTIVE POWER OF GOD: ELISHA AND THE WIDOW'S JAR OF OIL PART 5: THE DISCIPLINE OF THE SECRET PLACE — WHEN MIRACLES REQUIRE CLOSED DOORS 2 KINGS 4:4-5 In Part 4, we learned that miracles often involve movement, obedience, and action. The widow was instructed to go out, borrow vessels, and gather what was needed. We saw that God’s instructions often require participation, and that obedience is a key that unlocks divine provision. Now the story moves from the outside world into the inside space of encounter. After the vessels were gathered, something very significant happens in the process of the miracle. The next instruction is not about movement—but about isolation. God begins to shift the widow from public obedience to private encounter. In 2 Kings 4:4-5, Elisha gives a new instruction: “ Go in and shut the door behind you and your sons … ” This moment is deeply spiritual. Before the oil flows, the door must be closed. This teaches us that some dimensions of God’s power are ...

HOBAB: PARTNERSHIP, COLLABORATION, AND GUIDE FOR THE JOURNEY PART 12: THE GOSPEL IN ACTION – WALKING THE TALK

HOBAB: PARTNERSHIP, COLLABORATION, AND GUIDE FOR THE JOURNEY
PART 12: THE GOSPEL IN ACTION – WALKING THE TALK

Numbers 10:29-32

Moses said to Hobab, the son of Reuel the Midianite, his father-in-law, “We are journeying to the place the Lord promised to give us. Come with us, and we will treat you well, for the Lord has spoken good concerning Israel.”

But Hobab replied, “I will not go, but return to my own land and family.”

Then Moses said, “Please do not leave us. You know how we are to camp in the wilderness, and you can be our eyes. And if you go with us, whatever good the Lord does to us, we will do to you.”

RECAP OF PART 11: Echoes of the Gospel – Inviting Others Into the Journey

Last time, we explored how Moses’ invitation to Hobab mirrors the Gospel call. We were challenged to be intentional about inviting others into the blessings of God's kingdom, not just through words, but through our journey of faith.

The Gospel isn't just about what we say—it’s about how we live. Moses didn’t just invite Hobab with promises; he also offered to walk with him. In the same way, the Gospel is most powerful when our lifestyle becomes the evidence of our message.

True evangelism isn't just about sharing information—it's about living transformation. People are more likely to follow you to Jesus if they can follow you in life and see Christ reflected.

Scripture Focus:

"What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds?... Faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.” — James 2:14,17

"Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven." — Matthew 5:16

Life Application:

Live in a way that proves the Gospel is real. Let your kindness, your integrity, your forgiveness, and your perseverance preach louder than your words. Make it easy for others to believe in the Christ you represent.

Words may open the door, but it’s your lifestyle that invites people in. You’re a walking sermon. Live in a way that causes others to say, “I want to go where you’re going.”

REFLECTION:

Does my daily lifestyle reflect the message of the Gospel?

What part of my walk might be distracting others from God’s invitation?

Call to Action:

Today, choose one area of your life—at work, at home, online—and intentionally reflect Christ there. Let someone see Jesus through how you live.

PRAYER:

Lord, make my life a living invitation to Your kingdom. Help me to walk in a way that brings glory to You and draws others closer to Your light. May my actions echo the Gospel I speak. In Jesus' name, amen.

🔜 Next Part – Part 13: The Great Invitation – Come With Us

The Gospel is not a solo journey—it’s a divine invitation to community, covenant, and destiny. In Part 13, we’ll revisit Moses’ heartfelt plea: “Come with us…” and discover how those three words still echo through time.

Every believer is called to extend the Great Invitation—not out of duty, but out of love.

Who are you inviting to come with you—not just to church, but into the journey of faith?

💬 Let’s Talk

When was the last time you extended a sincere invitation for someone to join you on your faith journey?

Are you creating space in your life for others to walk with you spiritually?

What does “Come with us” look like in your own context—at work, school,

church, or home?

Let's keep the connection alive by dropping in your answers.

Thank you!
