THE UNPROFITABLE PROFIT: GAINS THAT BANKRUPT THE SOUL PART 12: FINAL LAP: THE PROFITABLE LIFE — WHEN THE SOUL IS PRESERVED AND REWARDED
2 Samuel 9:6-7
And David said unto him, Fear not: for I will surely shew thee kindness for Jonathan thy father's sake, and will restore thee all the land of Saul thy father; and thou shalt eat bread at my table continually.
In Part 6, we saw that Mephibosheth did not walk out of Lodebar by effort. He was summoned. Opportunity called, and he had to respond correctly—leaving familiarity, fear, and survival mode behind to step into the unknown of grace.
Being called out is powerful. But being seated is transformational. Many are invited into new spaces, yet still live like visitors.
The King’s Table is not about a moment—
it is about belonging.
Spiritual Dimension — Restored Covenant
The King’s Table represents covenant fulfilled. David did not seat Mephibosheth out of pity, but out of promise. Grace did not just rescue him from Lodebar;
it repositioned him into sonship.
At the table, Mephibosheth was no longer Saul’s grandson— he was treated like one of the king’s sons.
Physical Dimension — Provision and Stability
The table meant daily food, shelter, and security. No more begging. No more survival thinking. Grace addressed his physical limitations by providing consistent provision. He was still lame, but he lacked nothing. God’s restoration includes meeting practical needs, not just spiritual reassurance.
Emotional Dimension — Healing of Identity
At the King’s Table, shame lost its voice. Fear of rejection was replaced with acceptance. Eating daily in the king’s presence re-trained his identity:
“I am not tolerated.
I am accepted.”
Grace does not rush healing,
but it redefines worth.
Social Dimension — Belonging and Access
The table is a social statement. It announces who belongs. Mephibosheth moved from isolation to daily interaction with royalty.
Your environment shapes your mindset. Sitting at the right table teaches you how to live differently.
Prayer
Father, Seat me where Your covenant speaks louder than my past. Heal my identity as You provide for my needs. Teach me to live from acceptance, not fear. Amen.
Next: Part 8
we confront a powerful truth—
you can be restored, seated, and still broken…
yet fully chosen.
