PART 2: THE OTHER WOMAN — WHEN YOU’RE CHOSEN TO CARRY ANOTHER’S DREAM


Genesis 16:3–4

"So after Abram had been living in Canaan ten years, Sarai his wife took her Egyptian slave Hagar and gave her to her husband to be his wife. He slept with Hagar, and she conceived." (NIV)



🔁 Quick Recap:

In Part 1, we explored “The Womb That Waits”, drawing wisdom from Sarah’s long season of delay. We saw how purpose can feel paused, and how even in silence, God is working. Delay doesn’t mean denial. Sometimes, the womb that waits is simply the one God is preparing for something greater.


👣 Stepping Into Someone Else’s Story

Hagar didn’t ask for it.

She didn’t pray for it.

She didn’t even have a choice.

Yet suddenly, she became the one chosen to carry someone else’s dream. Her body became the ground where another woman’s desperation took root. She became a traditional surrogate—not through consent, but command.



🤰Surrogacy and Spiritual Assignments

Just like in traditional surrogacy, there are moments in life when God allows you to carry something that doesn’t begin with you.

You may find yourself:

Leading a project someone else started

Raising a child you didn’t birth

Mentoring someone when you needed mentorship

Interceding for others while your own needs go unmet

Sometimes, like Hagar, you're not the visionary, but you’re the one God uses to move the vision forward.

That can feel beautiful… but also confusing.



😔 The Silent Burden of the Carrier

Imagine Hagar—serving Sarai for years, then suddenly being handed over to Abraham. No conversation. No preparation. Just expectation.

Maybe you’ve been there:

Asked to serve without being seen

Given responsibility but not recognition

Carrying greatness but not getting gratitude

Being the “other woman” in someone else’s breakthrough story isn’t always easy.




🧠 A Spiritual Parallel

There are seasons when God calls you to be the Hagar in someone’s life—not to replace them, but to assist the fulfillment of God’s plan. This requires:

Humility to carry without ownership

Strength to serve while unseen

Grace to bear pain while others rejoice




🙏 Prayer

Dear Father, thank You for the honor of carrying dreams that may not have started with me. Help me to carry with grace, even when I feel forgotten. Teach me to serve without resentment and love without limits. May I find joy not in applause, but in obedience. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
