THE REDEMPTIVE POWER OF GOD: ELISHA AND THE WIDOW'S JAR OF OIL PART 5: THE DISCIPLINE OF THE SECRET PLACE — WHEN MIRACLES REQUIRE CLOSED DOORS 2 KINGS 4:4-5 In Part 4, we learned that miracles often involve movement, obedience, and action. The widow was instructed to go out, borrow vessels, and gather what was needed. We saw that God’s instructions often require participation, and that obedience is a key that unlocks divine provision. Now the story moves from the outside world into the inside space of encounter. After the vessels were gathered, something very significant happens in the process of the miracle. The next instruction is not about movement—but about isolation. God begins to shift the widow from public obedience to private encounter. In 2 Kings 4:4-5, Elisha gives a new instruction: “ Go in and shut the door behind you and your sons … ” This moment is deeply spiritual. Before the oil flows, the door must be closed. This teaches us that some dimensions of God’s power are ...

PRESERVING OUR INTEGRITY: BEING THE SALT OF THE EARTH PART 17 - FINAL LAP

PRESERVING OUR INTEGRITY: BEING THE SALT OF THE EARTH PART 17 - FINAL LAP

Matthew 5:13

"You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot."

Welcome to Part 17 of our series, Preserving Our Integrity: Being the Salt of the Earth. In our previous chapter, we explored the crucial steps of setting boundaries, creating safe environments, and choosing Spirit-led accountability partners to safeguard our integrity. Today, we conclude this series by reinforcing practical strategies that will help us uphold Christian values in our daily lives.

Setting Boundaries

Establishing boundaries is vital for maintaining integrity and avoiding situations that may lead to compromise. Here are some practical steps:

Clear Communication

Example: Clearly and respectfully communicate your boundaries to those around you. Explain why these limits are crucial for your spiritual and personal well-being, ensuring they align with biblical principles and your values. Being guided by the Holy Spirit in this process will help you set boundaries that protect you and foster a supportive environment. Clear, gracious communication of your boundaries helps prevent misunderstandings and maintains healthy relationships.

Avoid High-Risk Situations

Example: Be aware of environments or situations that might trigger your weaknesses. For instance, if certain places or activities increase your temptation, proactively avoid them. Whether it's steering clear of social settings where you might be tempted to gossip or avoiding online content that could lead you astray, taking steps to avoid high-risk situations is essential for upholding your integrity and reinforcing your commitment to your values.

Stay Connected to Your Faith

Example: Engage regularly in spiritual practices to strengthen your integrity and resolve.

Daily Prayer keeps you connected with God, seeking His guidance and strength.

Bible Study deepens your understanding of God's principles, aiding in wise decision-making and moral discernment.

Fellowship with other believers provides encouragement and accountability, reinforcing your spiritual growth.

These practices help solidify your boundaries and keep you firmly rooted in your faith.

REFLECTION:

Integrity is not built in a day; it is sustained by consistent, intentional choices. How we handle temptations, communicate our boundaries, and engage in spiritual disciplines all contribute to the preservation of our integrity. Ask yourself:

Are there areas in my life where my boundaries need to be clearer?

Do I avoid situations that could lead me into compromise?

How committed am I to staying connected to my faith through prayer, study, and fellowship?

Make a conscious decision today to uphold your integrity in every area of your life. Identify one practical step you can take—whether it's setting a clearer boundary, avoiding a particular temptation, or deepening your connection with God. Integrity is a journey, and every step you take in faith strengthens your commitment to righteousness.

PRAYER:

Lord, please help me to set and maintain clear boundaries, avoid tempting situations, and stay deeply connected to You through prayer, study, and fellowship. Guide me to live out my integrity in all areas of my life. Amen.

  1. It is important to set boundaries to uphold our values as Christians, and this should be done by respectfully communicating to others why these boundaries are necessary.
