THE SURROGATE JOURNEY: BIRTHING PURPOSE THROUGH OTHERS.  PART 3: THE WEIGHT OF THE WOMB — WHEN CARRYING GETS COMPLICATED Genesis 16:5–6 Then Sarai said to Abram, ‘You are responsible for the wrong I am suffering. I put my servant in your arms, and now that she knows she is pregnant, she despises me.’ Then Sarai mistreated Hagar; so she fled from her.” (NIV) 🔁 Quick Recap: In Part 2 , we met Hagar, the Egyptian servant chosen by Sarai to carry her child. Though not her dream, not her plan, and not her baby—she became the carrier of a promise she didn’t initiate. We learned how sometimes we are called to be the “other woman” in someone else’s destiny story—carrying, serving, interceding, and pushing someone else’s dream forward. 🤰 The Blessing that Brought Bitterness Hagar became pregnant. She was carrying the long-awaited seed. She should have been celebrated. But instead… she was mistreated. The one who chose her now chased her. The one who needed her now neglected her. The woman...

PART 2: THE DANGER OF COVERING UP WOUNDS – QUICK FIXES DON’T WORK

Proverbs 28:13

He who covers his sins will not prosper, but whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy."

Recap of Part 1: Recognizing the Wound – The First Step to Healing

In Part 1, we learned that healing begins with recognition. Ignoring early signs—whether in our health, faith, career, or leadershiponly invites deeper wounds. Awareness is the first step to change.

It’s human nature to hide pain. We cover up, hoping no one notices, hoping it’ll disappear. But a hidden wound doesn’t healit deepens. Just like applying Vaseline to an infected diabetic wound, many of us use emotional, spiritual, or practical shortcuts instead of confronting the real issue. Sadly, quick fixes often mask deeper damage.

Key Scripture:

"He who covers his sins will not prosper, but whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy." – Proverbs 28:13

LIFE APPLICATION:

The diabetic man massaged his wound with Vaseline, thinking it would heal. Instead, the infection spread deeper.

This applies to every area of life:

Physically: Ignoring symptoms or taking shortcuts (self-medication) can be deadly.

Academically: Copying in exams or relying on last-minute studying leads to failure.

Spiritually: Pretending to be fine while struggling in faith leads to deeper struggles.

Leadership: Making excuses for corruption and inefficiency only worsens a nation’s crisis.

A wound left untreated will always grow worse. True healing begins with facing the truth.

REFLECTION QUESTIONS:

1. What wounds (physical, spiritual, academic, or leadership-related) have you been covering up?

2. How can you take responsibility and seek real solutions?

Be honest with yourself today. Identify a wound you’ve been covering up and take one practical step toward healing.

PRAYER:

Father, help me be honest about my struggles. Give me the strength to confront and heal what I have ignored. Amen.

📌Let’s Talk:

Have you ever tried to cover a wound—literally or figuratively—hoping it would heal on its own? What happened? How has Part 2 challenged you to be more honest about what needs healing in your life? Share your insights, questions, or testimonies—we grow stronger together.

Thank you!
