THE RAVEN: HEAVEN’S DESPATCH RIDER PART 12 — BECOMING A RAVEN FOR OTHERS (FINAL LAP) 1 Kings 17:4–6 “And I have commanded the ravens to feed thee there… And the ravens brought him bread and flesh in the morning, and bread and flesh in the evening… ” In Part 11, we discovered that God still uses people as despatch riders of destiny. We learned that: some people are assigned carriers of divine help, not every encounter is random, God often delivers provision through relationships, and discernment is needed to recognize divine assignments in people. The key lesson was: Heaven often sends people as part of your survival system. Now the story turns inward. We are no longer only looking at the raven as a carrier for Elijah. We are now asking: Can I become a raven for someone else? Because the same God who once assigned ravens to feed a prophet still assigns people today to carry help, hope, and provision. This is the final maturity of the message: not only receiving divine help, but becoming...

WHEN FOLLOWING JESUS COSTS EVERYTHING PART 5: NO TURNING BACK

WHEN FOLLOWING JESUS COSTS EVERYTHING

PART 5: NO TURNING BACK

Luke 9:62 (NIV)

Jesus replied, “No one who puts a hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God.”

In Part 4, we saw that, looking back is dangerous. Using the plow. We saw that what you look back at can pull your heart away from where God is taking you. Comparison, delay, and emotional attachment can open doors to covetousness and corruption. Looking back is not just a glance—it is a heart drifting in the wrong direction.

Following Jesus Christ is not just about starting—it is about continuing without retreat. Many people begin the journey with excitement:

You started the ministry

You launched the business

You committed your life to God

But somewhere along the way, the pressure comes. The results seem slow. Others seem ahead. And then the temptation arises…

“Maybe I should go back.”

Insight 🔍

Jesus uses a powerful farming picture:

“Putting your hand to the plow…”

In those days, plowing required:

Focus

Consistency

Forward vision

If a farmer looks back while plowing, the lines become crooked, and the field becomes unproductive. So when Jesus says:

No one… who looks back is fit…

He is not insulting the person— He is revealing a principle:

You cannot move forward effectively if your heart is still behind.

Deeper Truth 🔥

Looking back is more than nostalgia—it can become:

Distraction leads to losing focus on your assignment

Comparison leads  to “We started together, why am I behind?”

Covetousness leads to desiring what God has not assigned to you

Corruption leads to compromising values to “catch up

This is where many destinies begin to bend.

You see others:

Growing faster

Earning more

Gaining visibility

And instead of staying aligned with God, the heart whispers:

Adjust… compromise… take shortcuts…”

Reality Check ⚖️

Not everyone who started with you is called to end where you will end.

God’s dealings are personal and specific.

Comparison is dangerous because it tempts you to abandon your lane.

Spiritual Warning 🚨

Looking back can slowly pull you into:

Old habits

Old relationships

Old compromises

Just like Lot’s wife looked back and became stuck, many believers today:

Start in the Spirit

But drift back into the flesh

Not suddenly—but gradually.

Powerful Truth 💡

You don’t need to look back to confirm your progress—obedience is your validation.

Reflection 🤔

What am I constantly looking back at?

Who am I comparing myself to?

Have I been tempted to compromise just to “catch up”?

Is my focus still aligned with God’s direction for my life?

Call To Action 📌

Refuse to compare your journey with others

Stay committed to what God has given you

Guard your heart against subtle compromise

Fix your eyes forward—no retreat, no distraction

Prayer 🙏

Lord, help me to stay focused on the path You have set before me. Deliver me from comparison, distraction, and the temptation to look back. Give me the grace to remain steadfast, committed, and faithful to Your call. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Part 6: The Rich Young Ruler — A Real-life Example

In the next devotional, we will meet a man who:

Was disciplined. Was morally upright. Was spiritually hungry Yet walked away from Jesus Christ when faced with the true cost of following Him. His story reveals a sobering truth: You can be very close to Jesus—and still walk away when surrender becomes too costly.

God is speaking, are you listening?
