THE GREAT CHEF: WHEN GOD COOKS PART 1: THE KITCHEN OF DESTINY — WHEN GOD BEGINS THE RECIPE
THE GREAT CHEF: WHEN GOD COOKS
PART 1: THE KITCHEN OF DESTINY — WHEN GOD BEGINS THE RECIPE
Romans 8:28
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
Every great meal begins in a hidden place. Before it reaches the table… Before it receives applause… Before people compliment the taste… It passes through fire.
Many of us want destiny served — but we don’t want the kitchen. Yet Heaven operates differently. When God decides to make something great out of a life, He doesn’t skip preparation. He gathers ingredients. And sometimes… they look strange.
The key phrase for this chapter:
“All things work together…”
Not some things. Not pleasant things. All things.
God Is Intentional With Ingredients
When a chef cooks, nothing is accidental. The salt is measured. The spice is deliberate. Even the heat level is calculated. In the same way, nothing enters your life randomly.
That disappointment. That delay. That misunderstanding. That closed door. Heaven inspected it before it reached you.
The danger is this:
We often try to throw away what God intentionally added.
The Fire Is Not Your Enemy
Nobody enjoys heat. But no raw food becomes edible without fire. The fire:
Softens what is hard. Kills what is harmful. Blends what was separate. If God removed all pressure from your life, you might remain spiritually raw. What if the fire you’re praying against is the fire that perfects you?
God Cooks in Hidden Places
Meals are prepared in kitchens, not in dining halls. Preparation is private. Presentation is public. Before:
Joseph entered the palace, he endured the prison. David wore the crown, he stayed in the field. Hidden seasons are not wasted seasons. They are marinating seasons.
Process Is Not Punishment
One of the greatest misconceptions in spiritual growth is this:
“If I’m suffering, God must be angry.”
Not always. Sometimes the process is proof of purpose. A chef does not cook what he plans to throw away. If God is processing you, He is planning to present you.
REAL-LIFE APPLICATION (Practical Layer)
As an assimilation officer, you understand that new converts don’t mature overnight. There’s process:
Teaching
Correction
Patience
Follow-up
Growth takes time. In the same way, your calling, your influence, your impact — they are in process. Don’t despise slow growth.
Reflection
Ask yourself:
What ingredient in my life feels uncomfortable right now?
Am I resisting the fire?
Have I mistaken preparation for punishment?
Call To Action
This week:
Stop complaining about one difficult situation. Write down what it may be producing in you.
Thank God intentionally for one “unwanted ingredient.”
Stay in the kitchen.
Prayer
Lord, I surrender to Your process. Help me trust You when I don’t understand the heat. If You are cooking something greater than I can see, Give me grace to endure the fire. Refine me without ruining me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Next Chapter Preview
In Part 2, we examine the ingredient of betrayal through the life of Joseph — and discover how pits become pathways to palaces.
God is speaking, are you listening?
