THE UNPROFITABLE PROFIT: GAINS THAT BANKRUPT THE SOUL PART 12: FINAL LAP: THE PROFITABLE LIFE — WHEN THE SOUL IS PRESERVED AND REWARDED

Ezekiel 8:1-4
In Ezekiel 8, the prophet Ezekiel was sitting with the elders of Judah when suddenly the hand of the Lord fell upon him. God, by His Spirit, lifted Ezekiel between heaven and earth and carried him in visions to Jerusalem. But this was no ordinary tour. This was a divine inspection tour — God was about to expose what was hidden behind walls, doors, and curtains.
Ezekiel saw the outer temple, then was led closer, and finally, through a hole in the wall. What seemed like a simple crack in the wall became the entry point into the shocking reality of what was happening among God’s people.
God was teaching Ezekiel — and us — that He sees what is done in public and what is hidden behind closed doors.
The Vision of Exposure
1. God is the God who reveals
Ezekiel wasn’t looking for secrets; God chose to open his eyes.
Just like in our day, God still exposes what we try to bury. Hebrews says: “Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight.”
2. The hole in the wall
A hole looks small and insignificant, but to God it’s enough to show the rot inside.
Sometimes, little cracks in character, in leadership, in personal devotion, are enough to open doors to deeper corruption.
3. The painful reality
Ezekiel thought he would see the glory of God in the temple, but instead he saw idolatry, compromise, and secret sins among the leaders.
Likewise, many today are shocked when God opens their eyes to see what happens in the hidden corners of His house — things not visible on Sunday morning.
Reflection
Could it be that God is inviting us, like Ezekiel, to see beyond the surface? What would He find if He took us on a vision tour of our own hearts? Would he find devotion or distraction, purity or compromise?
Prayer
Father, just as You opened Ezekiel’s eyes, open mine to see what You see. Expose the holes in my own wall before they become gates of destruction. Purify my heart, cleanse Your church, and restore true worship in Jesus’ name. Amen.

The Wall: When Defense Becomes Disguise (Ezekiel 8:5–7)
God points Ezekiel to the north gate, where an idol of jealousy stands, where worship should be.
We’ll unpack how a wall meant to protect holiness becomes a mask for hypocrisy.
Spot the signs: cracks, cover-ups, and the first hints of a hole that invites deeper exposure.
