THE REDEMPTIVE POWER OF GOD: ELISHA AND THE WIDOW'S JAR OF OIL PART 5: THE DISCIPLINE OF THE SECRET PLACE — WHEN MIRACLES REQUIRE CLOSED DOORS 2 KINGS 4:4-5 In Part 4, we learned that miracles often involve movement, obedience, and action. The widow was instructed to go out, borrow vessels, and gather what was needed. We saw that God’s instructions often require participation, and that obedience is a key that unlocks divine provision. Now the story moves from the outside world into the inside space of encounter. After the vessels were gathered, something very significant happens in the process of the miracle. The next instruction is not about movement—but about isolation. God begins to shift the widow from public obedience to private encounter. In 2 Kings 4:4-5, Elisha gives a new instruction: “ Go in and shut the door behind you and your sons … ” This moment is deeply spiritual. Before the oil flows, the door must be closed. This teaches us that some dimensions of God’s power are ...

HOBAB: PARTNERSHIP, COLLABORATION, AND GUIDE FOR THE JOURNEY PART 1: THE POWER OF STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIPS

HOBAB: PARTNERSHIP, COLLABORATION, AND GUIDE FOR THE JOURNEY
PART 1: THE POWER OF STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIPS

Numbers 10:29-32

Moses said to Hobab, the son of Reuel the Midianite, his father-in-law, “We are journeying to the place the Lord promised to give us. Come with us, and we will treat you well, for the Lord has spoken good concerning Israel.”

But Hobab replied, “I will not go, but return to my own land and family.”

Then Moses said, “Please do not leave us. You know how we are to camp in the wilderness, and you can be our eyes. And if you go with us, whatever good the Lord does to us, we will do to you.”

Every journey, especially one ordained by God, is filled with twists, turns, deserts, and divine appointments. When Moses invited Hobab—his brother-in-law—to join Israel’s journey, he wasn’t just asking for company. He was acknowledging a principle we often overlook: even with God leading, we still need the right people beside us. Strategic partnerships are not signs of weakness—they are signs of wisdom.

“Come with us, and we will treat you well, for the Lord has promised good things to Israel.” — Numbers 10:29

Moses understood that destiny is not walked alone. He recognized that Hobab’s familiarity with the terrain could serve as a divine asset. This wasn’t just family—it was functionality. Some people are not in your life just to relate—they’re there to navigate.

Life Application

God has placed certain people in your path for specific seasons and purposes. Don’t isolate yourself in pride or fear. Like Moses, be humble enough to say, “Come with us.” In ministry, business, or family life, identify and nurture partnerships that advance God's kingdom and bring mutual growth.

God’s promise doesn’t negate our need for people. Moses had God, the cloud, the fire—and still said to Hobab, “Be our eyes.” Never let spiritual confidence cancel relational wisdom. Some blessings come faster and safer when we walk with those who know the terrain.

REFLECTION

Who in your life right now has a “Hobab anointing”—someone with skills, wisdom, or insight that can help guide you?

Have you been reluctant to ask for help or collaborate out of fear of rejection or pride?

Call to Action

Today, reach out to someone whose presence could add clarity, value, or strength to your journey. Pray about divine collaborations—those God-ordained relationships that bring strategy, safety, and strength.

PRAYER

Father, thank You for the gift of people. Open my eyes to see those You’ve placed around me as helpers, guides, and collaborators. Teach me to value partnerships and walk in humility. May I never despise the help You send through others. Align me with those who will sharpen and strengthen my purpose. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

The Next Part

In Part 2, we’ll discover why even spiritual leaders like Moses needed persistent wisdom and guidance from others. Get ready to unpack the beauty of pressing forward in pursuit of collaborative destiny.

📌Let’s Talk

Have you ever looked back and realized someone God placed in your life wasn’t just “nice” but necessary? Share a story or reflection about a time when a strategic partnership shaped your journey.

Thank you!
