THE POOL OF MERCY: WHEN JESUS STEPS INTO BROKEN SYSTEMS PART 1: THE FEAST WITHOUT HEALING John 5:1- (KJV) "After this there was a feast of the Jews; and Jesus went up to Jerusalem."  John chapter 5 opens, not with a miracle, but with a feast. Jerusalem was alive with celebration as thousands of Jews gathered to observe one of their sacred festivals. The city was filled with worshippers, religious leaders, sacrifices, ceremonies, and outward expressions of devotion. Yet beneath the atmosphere of celebration was another reality. Just outside the excitement stood the Pool of Bethesda, where countless blind, lame, paralyzed, and hopeless people lay waiting for healing. This striking contrast teaches us an important truth: it is possible for religious activity to flourish while broken lives remain unchanged. A city can celebrate a feast while many hearts still ache for restoration. Understanding The Jewish Feast The Jewish feasts were appointed by God to remind His people of His f...

SERIES INTRODUCTION

John 5:1...

There are moments in life when we find ourselves waiting. Waiting for healing. Waiting for restoration. Waiting for a breakthrough. Waiting for doors to open. Waiting for prayers to be answered. For some, the waiting lasts days; for others, months or even years. As time passes, hope can fade, strength can weaken, and disappointment can settle in.

John chapter 5 introduces us to such a place—a place called Bethesda, meaning "House of Mercy." Yet, despite its name, it was filled with people carrying heavy burdens. The blind longed to see, the lame longed to walk, the paralyzed longed to move, and the hopeless longed for another chance. They all waited beside a pool, hoping that one day their condition would change.

Into this atmosphere of pain, delay, and brokenness walked Jesus Christ.

He did not wait for the water to move. He did not ask who had been there the longest. He did not operate by the limitations of the system. Instead, He stepped into a place where human effort had failed and revealed that God's mercy is greater than every limitation.

This series, "The Pool of Mercy: When Jesus Steps Into Broken Systems," will take us on a life-changing journey through John 5. Together, we will uncover the spiritual significance of the Jewish feast, the Sheep Gate, the Pool of Bethesda, the five porches, and the conditions of the blind, the lame, the paralyzed, and the hopeless. More importantly, we will discover how each of these points to our own lives and to the transforming power of Jesus Christ.

If you have ever felt forgotten, delayed, stuck, weary, or hopeless, this series is for you. The same Jesus who walked into Bethesda is still walking into broken lives today. His voice still restores. His mercy still heals. His power still raises people from seasons of stagnation into testimonies of victory.

As we begin this journey, may the Lord open our eyes to His truth, strengthen our faith, restore every wasted year, and remind us that no situation is beyond the reach of His mercy.

When Jesus steps into your broken system, your long season of waiting can change in a single moment.

God is speaking, are you listening?
