PART 15 – THE PAIN, THE PRICE, THE PEOPLE

Hebrews 12:2

“For the joy set before Him, He endured the cross.” 


Welcome to Part 15 of our new continuation series, “Built to Last: Surviving for the Sake of Others.”

In the last part, we uncovered how Charles and Conrad’s survival didn’t just benefit them—it overflowed to me. It’s humbling to know that their endurance gave me strength in critical moments, both physically and spiritually. Today, we go deeper. We explore three truths: every survival has a pain, every survival has a price, and every survival has a people it will bless.

Survival isn’t cheap—but it is purposeful.


 The Pain, The Price, The People


1. The Pain: It's Not Wasted

Conrad shared how sleep became a stranger after three months of mental warfare. They beat him not because he was lazy—but because he could no longer sleep even when told to. That’s pain rewiring the mind. He nearly gave up, but he didn’t. That pain trained him. And through him, that pain trained me too.


Charles bore his own pain. Silent moments when he almost quit. But he didn’t. That internal fight—the voice that said, "don’t give up yet, someone is watching”—was real. If you’re going through pain, let me remind you: it’s not wasted. Someone will feed from your scars someday.


2. The Price: Sacrifice Isn’t Optional

They survived because they sacrificed. Food. Comfort. Water. Even safety. This is the cost of greatness. Whether in the faith, in leadership, or in legacy—there is no glory without sacrifice.

Hebrews 5:8 says, “Though He was a Son, yet He learned obedience by the things He suffered.”

Survival costs—but the reward is beyond you.


3. The People: Your Story is Someone’s Miracle

What if Charles had died in training? I may never have received that divine encouragement in my lowest financial moment.

What if Conrad collapsed under pressure? I may never have heard those transforming lessons.

When you survive, you become a steward of hope. Someone’s destiny may be preserved through your decision to keep going.



REFLECTION

Think again about the times you almost gave up—but didn’t.

What did that decision produce later?

Who was blessed by your persistence?

The price you pay today may birth the miracle someone’s been praying for tomorrow.




Pay the price.

Endure the pain.

Bless the people.

Don’t let the present hardship blind you to the harvest ahead. Someone is waiting on the other side of your survival.



PRAYER

Father, thank You for the courage to endure.

Though the pain may press me, remind me of the purpose.

Though the price may be high, help me see the people I’m meant to bless.

Let my scars become testimonies and my story become survival fuel for others.

In Jesus’ name. Amen.
