THE REDEMPTIVE POWER OF GOD: ELISHA AND THE WIDOW'S JAR OF OIL PART 5: THE DISCIPLINE OF THE SECRET PLACE — WHEN MIRACLES REQUIRE CLOSED DOORS 2 KINGS 4:4-5 In Part 4, we learned that miracles often involve movement, obedience, and action. The widow was instructed to go out, borrow vessels, and gather what was needed. We saw that God’s instructions often require participation, and that obedience is a key that unlocks divine provision. Now the story moves from the outside world into the inside space of encounter. After the vessels were gathered, something very significant happens in the process of the miracle. The next instruction is not about movement—but about isolation. God begins to shift the widow from public obedience to private encounter. In 2 Kings 4:4-5, Elisha gives a new instruction: “ Go in and shut the door behind you and your sons … ” This moment is deeply spiritual. Before the oil flows, the door must be closed. This teaches us that some dimensions of God’s power are ...

TAKING THE CIVILIAN OUT OF YOU: A JOURNEY OF TRANSFORMATION PART 3: STRENGTH UNDER PRESSURE — BUILDING RESILIENCE IN THE FACE OF ADVERSITY

TAKING THE CIVILIAN OUT OF YOU:
 A JOURNEY OF TRANSFORMATION
PART 3: STRENGTH UNDER PRESSURE — BUILDING RESILIENCE IN
THE FACE OF ADVERSITY

Romans 5:3-4

"We glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope."

Previously: We learned that no one steps into destiny carrying a civilian mindset — discipline is the price of greatness.

In Part 2, we emphasized how the discipline of carrying your load without excuses is key to building your strength and character. But life doesn’t stop at simply carrying the load — it will often test you with pressure, stress, and adversity. Part 3 is about building resilience under pressure, learning how to stand firm when everything around you seems to be falling apart.

Pressure is inevitable. Whether it’s financial hardship, family challenges, work stress, or spiritual warfare, you will face moments in life where the weight of the world seems to be pressing down on you. But it’s in these moments of pressure that resilience is forged.

Just like the recruits or trainees at the academy, who were forced to endure extreme physical activities and harsh conditions, you too must learn to embrace challenges. The pain you feel today is often the strength you’ll need tomorrow. It’s like when a blacksmith puts iron through intense heat to make it strong — without the pressure, it remains weak and unrefined.

The apostle Paul understood this well. In Romans 5:3-4, he writes: "We glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope."

Pressure doesn’t destroy you; it builds you. It’s an opportunity to grow your resilience. Just as a rubber band can only stretch so much before it snaps, so too can you only be stretched in certain situations. But when you learn to stay strong under pressure, your capacity to endure grows.

The key to resilience is embracing the process. Every difficulty, challenge, or test you go through is part of shaping you into a stronger, more resilient person. Don’t fight the pressure. Learn from it. Let it mold you into the person you need to be for the journey ahead.

REFLECTION:

Are you currently under pressure? Maybe you’re facing a season of difficulty or stress. Instead of letting this pressure break you, how can you use it to build your resilience? Reflect on the situations where you feel pressure and ask God to help you embrace it, knowing it is preparing you for greatness.

This week, identify one area where you’re feeling pressured. Instead of complaining or giving up, decide to embrace it.

Maybe it’s a difficult project at work.

Maybe it’s a challenging relationship.

Maybe it’s personal growth or spiritual struggles.

Choose to stay firm under pressure. Don’t let adversity defeat you. Use it to build resilience.

PRAYER:

Lord, help me to remain strong under pressure. Teach me how to persevere and build resilience in every trial. I know that through adversity, you are shaping me into the person I need to be. I trust you in every season, and I ask for your strength to endure. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
