THE SURROGATE JOURNEY: BIRTHING PURPOSE THROUGH OTHERS.  PART 3: THE WEIGHT OF THE WOMB — WHEN CARRYING GETS COMPLICATED Genesis 16:5–6 Then Sarai said to Abram, ‘You are responsible for the wrong I am suffering. I put my servant in your arms, and now that she knows she is pregnant, she despises me.’ Then Sarai mistreated Hagar; so she fled from her.” (NIV) 🔁 Quick Recap: In Part 2 , we met Hagar, the Egyptian servant chosen by Sarai to carry her child. Though not her dream, not her plan, and not her baby—she became the carrier of a promise she didn’t initiate. We learned how sometimes we are called to be the “other woman” in someone else’s destiny story—carrying, serving, interceding, and pushing someone else’s dream forward. 🤰 The Blessing that Brought Bitterness Hagar became pregnant. She was carrying the long-awaited seed. She should have been celebrated. But instead… she was mistreated. The one who chose her now chased her. The one who needed her now neglected her. The woman...

THE LIFE CYCLE OF SIN AS CHILDBEARING PART 5: WHEN DESIRE PUSHES—THE BIRTH OF SIN.

THE LIFE CYCLE OF SIN AS CHILDBEARING
PART 5: WHEN DESIRE PUSHES—THE BIRTH OF SIN.

James 1:15

Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.

RECAP of 4

In the last chapter, we discussed how what we nurture—whether good or evil—eventually grows stronger and shapes our lives. We learned that temptation plays a key role in feeding desire, and what we feed ultimately determines whether we walk in righteousness or fall into sin.

Today, we continue the metaphor by examining what happens when nurtured desire reaches its peak: it gives birth to sin.

3. Giving Birth to Sin

The womb of desire doesn’t stay hidden forever. When it is fed long enough, when thoughts are entertained repeatedly, and when conviction is ignored—it births sin. Like the due date of a pregnant woman, it comes with no delay.

Sinful Actions:

What started as a small longing or subtle thought now becomes action. A lie told to avoid consequences. A lustful thought turned into pornography. A craving for validation that becomes gossip or envy. These are not random—they are the delivery of a desire long nurtured.

This is why Jesus emphasized in Matthew 5 that even looking with lust is already adultery. Because the act is simply the final stage of something that’s already been conceived and carried.

REFLECTION:

Have you noticed how certain habits began?

What started as “just a thought” became a habit.

What are you about to “give birth to”? Is it righteousness or sin?

Call to Action:

Watch the seeds you are carrying in your heart.

Ask the Holy Spirit daily to search and expose desires that are growing in the wrong direction.

Interrupt the process before sin is born.

PRAYER:

Lord, strengthen me to guard my heart and reject desires that lead to sin. Help me stay sensitive to Your Spirit and resist the devil before desire becomes disobedience. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Next Part:

In Part 6, we will explore how sin, once born, doesn’t stop growing—but continues maturing and eventually leads to death. Just as a child grows after birth, so does sin, and if left unchecked, it results in devastating consequences.

📌Let’s Talk:

Can you recall a time when something you didn’t deal with early grew into a full-blown mistake or regret?

What are some practical ways to stop a sinful desire before it takes over?

Please kindly share your thoughts, testimonies, or questions—we grow better together.

Thank you!
