THE STORY: THE CAR NEEDED MORE THAN A JUMPSTART
Romans 1:11-12 (NIV)
"I long to see you so that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to make you strong—that is, that you and I may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith."
Welcome to Part 2 of our Series, Jumpstarting your life: the Power of Divine Connection.
In Part 1, we learned that sometimes, like a dead car battery, our lives need a jumpstart from the right people, sources, and connections. But a jumpstart alone is not enough—you need power to keep moving!
PART 2: YOU CAN’T MOVE WITHOUT POWER!
THE STORY: THE CAR NEEDED MORE THAN A JUMPSTART
After my landlady’s son’s car was jumpstarted, I expected him to drive off immediately. But he didn’t—he sat in the car for a while. Why? The car had power but no fuel!
That moment reminded me: It’s not enough to be revived—you need power to keep going.
HAVE YOU EVER FELT REVIVED BUT STILL STAGNANT?
Many people experience moments of spiritual, emotional, or financial revival but still struggle to move forward.
Spiritually – You had a great encounter with God, but you lack the consistency to stay on fire. (“The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.” – Matthew 26:41)
Physically – You got motivated to exercise, but a week later, you quit. (“A little sleep, a little slumber… and poverty will come like a thief.” – Proverbs 24:33-34)
Socially – You reconciled with a friend, but unresolved issues kept the relationship from growing. (“Make every effort to live in peace.” – Hebrews 12:14)
Financially – You received financial help, but without discipline, your struggles returned. (“The borrower is servant to the lender.” – Proverbs 22:7)
It’s one thing to be jumpstarted, but another to keep moving.
JESUS’ WARNING: DON’T RUN OUT OF OIL
In the parable of the ten virgins, all had lamps, but only five had enough oil.
When the bridegroom came, the wise ones entered, but the foolish ones were locked out. (Matthew 25:1-13 – “Give us some of your oil; our lamps are going out.”)
A good start is not enough—you need power to sustain your journey.
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU RUN OUT OF POWER?
1️⃣ Frustration Sets In – You wonder why you’re stuck despite trying so hard. (“Hope deferred makes the heart sick.” – Proverbs 13:12)
2️⃣ You Lose Passion – What once excited you now feels like a burden. (“Do not be slothful in zeal; be fervent in spirit.” – Romans 12:11)
3️⃣ Opportunities Pass You By – Like the foolish virgins, doors can close when you’re unprepared.
4️⃣ You Start Depending on Others – Instead of running on your own strength, you constantly need others to keep you going.
If you don't refuel regularly, you risk breaking down!
HOW TO KEEP YOUR LIFE POWERED UP
✔ Stay Connected to God’s Power – The Holy Spirit is your fuel. (“Not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit.” – Zechariah 4:6)
✔ Be Disciplined in Growth – Small daily habits keep your fire burning. (“Fan into flame the gift of God within you.” – 2 Timothy 1:6)
✔ Surround Yourself with People Who Push You Forward – Don’t just rely on a jumpstart; have fuel stations around you. (“Bad company corrupts good character.” – 1 Corinthians 15:33)
✔ Keep Feeding Yourself Spiritually, Mentally, and Emotionally – Just as a car needs regular refueling, your soul needs constant nourishment. (“Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.” – Matthew 4:4)
Sustained power requires consistent refueling!

PRAYER:
Lord, I don’t just want a momentary revival; I want the power to keep moving. Fill me with Your Spirit, give me the discipline to stay strong, and surround me with the right people. I receive fresh oil today! Amen.
COMING NEXT: "THE COST OF STAYING DISCONNECTED"
In Part 3, we’ll explore what happens when you disconnect from the right power source and how to avoid spiritual, emotional, and financial shutdowns!
