THE SURROGATE JOURNEY: BIRTHING PURPOSE THROUGH OTHERS.  PART 3: THE WEIGHT OF THE WOMB — WHEN CARRYING GETS COMPLICATED Genesis 16:5–6 Then Sarai said to Abram, ‘You are responsible for the wrong I am suffering. I put my servant in your arms, and now that she knows she is pregnant, she despises me.’ Then Sarai mistreated Hagar; so she fled from her.” (NIV) 🔁 Quick Recap: In Part 2 , we met Hagar, the Egyptian servant chosen by Sarai to carry her child. Though not her dream, not her plan, and not her baby—she became the carrier of a promise she didn’t initiate. We learned how sometimes we are called to be the “other woman” in someone else’s destiny story—carrying, serving, interceding, and pushing someone else’s dream forward. 🤰 The Blessing that Brought Bitterness Hagar became pregnant. She was carrying the long-awaited seed. She should have been celebrated. But instead… she was mistreated. The one who chose her now chased her. The one who needed her now neglected her. The woman...

JUMPSTARTING YOUR LIFE—THE POWER OF DIVINE CONNECTIONS PART 6:WHEN YOUR ENGINE OVERHEATS—KNOWING WHEN TO PAUSE

THE STORY: A CAR CAN OVERHEAT IF PUSHED TOO HARD

Romans 1:11-12 (NIV)

"I long to see you so that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to make you strong—that is, that you and I may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith."

Welcome to Part 6 of our Series, Jumpstarting Your Life: The Power of Divine Connection.

In Part 5, we learned that maintaining momentum after a breakthrough is just as important as the breakthrough itself. Neglecting daily growth, forgetting your power source, and overloading yourself can lead to stagnation. To keep your engine running, you must stay connected, prioritize growth, and embrace renewal.

PART 6: WHEN YOUR ENGINE OVERHEATS—KNOWING WHEN TO PAUSE

THE STORY: A CAR CAN OVERHEAT IF PUSHED TOO HARD

A few weeks after my landlady’s son successfully jumpstarted his car, I saw him by the roadside, frustrated again. This time, it wasn’t the battery—his engine had overheated! He had been driving long distances without proper maintenance, ignoring warning signs, until the car broke down completely.

How often do we do the same? We push ourselves too hard, ignore warning signs, and eventually crash—physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.

WHAT CAUSES OVERHEATING IN LIFE?

1️⃣ Overworking Without Rest – Many people grind non-stop without taking time to recharge. Even Jesus took time away from the crowds to rest. (“Come aside and rest a while.” – Mark 6:31)

2️⃣ Ignoring Warning Signs – Before a car overheats, there are signals: rising temperature, unusual sounds, warning lights. Life also gives us warning signs:

Burnout – Constant exhaustion, loss of motivation.

Stress and Anxiety – Feeling overwhelmed but refusing to slow down.

Broken Relationships – Neglecting important people in your life. (“He who isolates himself seeks his own desire.” – Proverbs 18:1)

3️⃣ Carrying Too Much Weight – A car overheats faster when overloaded. Sometimes, we take on too much—responsibilities, relationships, pressures—without setting boundaries. (“Cast your burdens on the Lord.” – Psalm 55:22)

4️⃣ Running Without Proper Fuel – Using the wrong oil or neglecting coolant in a car causes overheating. In life, running on stress, fear, or pride instead of faith, wisdom, and balance leads to breakdown. (“My grace is sufficient for you.” – 2 Corinthians 12:9)

HOW TO PREVENT OVERHEATING IN LIFE

Learn to Rest Before You Burn Out – Rest is not laziness; it’s recovery. (“God rested on the seventh day.” – Genesis 2:2)

Pay Attention to Warning Signs – Stop ignoring stress, fatigue, or disconnection. Address issues before they escalate. (“A prudent man foresees danger and takes precautions.” – Proverbs 22:3)

Release Unnecessary Burdens – Not everything is your responsibility. Learn to say no when needed. (“Moses chose able men to share the burden.” – Exodus 18:25-26)

Use the Right Fuel – Ensure that your spiritual, emotional, and physical health are well-nourished. (“Man shall not live by bread alone.” – Matthew 4:4)

REFLECTION:

Have you been ignoring warning signs in your life?

Are you overloading yourself with responsibilities you shouldn’t carry?

How can you create balance to prevent burnout and live sustainably?

PRAYER:

Lord, I don’t want to crash due to exhaustion. Help me recognize the warning signs in my life, embrace rest, and remove unnecessary burdens. Teach me to walk in wisdom and balance. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
