EHUD: THE LEFT-HANDED WARRIOR AND JUDGE PART 13: THE DEFEAT OF MOAB: WHEN GOD FINISHES THE BATTLE Judges 3:29–30 (NLT) "They attacked the Moabites and killed about 10,000 of their strongest and most able-bodied warriors. Not a single one escaped. So Moab was conquered by Israel that day, and the land was at peace for eighty years." In Part 12, we discovered that after God gave Israel victory over King Eglon, Ehud did not assume the battle was finished. He understood that a defeated enemy could still regroup if access was not controlled. By taking control of the Jordan crossings, Israel cut off Moab's escape route and prevented the enemy from returning with renewed strength. Now the final confrontation begins. In Part 11, we discovered that Ehud's declaration, " Follow me , for the LORD has given you victory, " was not a statement of human confidence but a declaration of faith in God's power. In Part 9, we discovered that while the servants of King Eglon delayed the discovery of what had happened inside the upper room, God was working behind the scenes to protect His servant. They thought he might be using the latrine in the room. So they waited. But when the king didn't come out after a long delay, they became concerned and got a key. And when they opened the doors, they found their master dead on the floor." In Part 8, we learned that after carrying out God's assignment, Ehud closed and locked the doors before making his escape. In Part 7, we witnessed the fall of King Eglon. The hidden weapon was finally revealed, and God's judgment was executed against the oppressor of Israel. We learned that victory over the flesh requires decisive obedience and that God's Word cuts away everything that stands against His purpose. But the story does not end with Eglon's fall. Before Ehud escaped, he did something that many readers overlook. He closed and locked the doors of the upper room. At first glance, this may seem like an insignificant detail. Yet, as we have seen throughout this series, God never wastes words. Every detail recorded in Scripture invites us to look deeper.
