THE UNPROFITABLE PROFIT: GAINS THAT BANKRUPT THE SOUL PART 12: FINAL LAP: THE PROFITABLE LIFE — WHEN THE SOUL IS PRESERVED AND REWARDED Matthew 25:21 “Well done, thou good and faithful servant… enter thou into the joy of thy lord.”  In Part 11, we stood before the eternal verdict. We learned that: Eternity reveals what life concealed. The verdict is based on response, not information. What you lived—not what you claimed—will speak. He managed life well… but neglected his soul. After all the warnings…after all the losses… after all the consequences…There is still a question: “ What does it mean to truly profit?”  Because not all profit is dangerous. There is a kind of gain…that heaven approves. A life where nothing essential is lost—and everything that matters is preserved. The Profitable Life — When The Soul Is Preserved And Rewarded A profitable life is not measured by how much you have…but by what you keep. It is a life where: Your soul is intact. PRESERVING OUR INTEGRITY: BEING THE SALT OF THE EARTH PART 13

PRESERVING OUR INTEGRITY: BEING THE SALT OF THE EARTH PART 13

Matthew 5:13

"You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot."

Welcome to part 13 of our Series, Preserving our Integrity: Being the salt of the Earth. Previously, we explored the consequences of losing our saltiness as Christians, likening it to expired salt that becomes ineffective and discarded. We saw how compromised integrity can lead to harmful personal, relational, and communal consequences. Today, we go deeper, examining how the loss of integrity affects our credibility, personal well-being, and ability to influence others for Christ.

Consequences of Losing Our Saltiness/Integrity as Christians

1. Loss of Respect and Credibility

Integrity is the foundation of trust. When compromised, people lose confidence in us, affecting our relationships, careers, and spiritual influence.

Just as no one values tasteless salt, a believer who compromises their faith loses the ability to be a guiding light to others.

Proverbs 22:1 reminds us, “A good name is more desirable than great riches.” Without integrity, our name loses its worth.

2. Personal Consequences

Guilt, shame, and spiritual dryness often accompany moral compromise.

A divided heart leads to an internal battle—knowing what is right yet struggling with the weight of past decisions.

This conflict can manifest in emotional and physical distress, such as anxiety, stress, and restlessness.

3. Negative Influence on Others

Our lives are testimonies to both believers and non-believers. Compromised integrity can discourage the weak in faith and reinforce the skepticism of unbelievers.

Young believers may be misled by those they once admired, leading to spiritual confusion or even turning away from God.

Romans 14:13 cautions us: “Make up your mind not to put any stumbling block or obstacle in the way of a brother or sister.”

4. Spiritual Ineffectiveness

Christians are called to be the “salt of the earth,” preserving righteousness and influencing the world for Christ.

When we lose our saltiness, we become passive, blending into worldly standards rather than standing firm in biblical truth.

Jesus warns that such salt is “no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot” (Matthew 5:13).

5. Isolation and Broken Relationships

Integrity sustains meaningful connections. When trust is lost, relationships suffer—leading to rejection, loneliness, and broken communities.

Those who once sought us for counsel and support may withdraw, and our ability to build new, meaningful connections may be hindered.

Just as spoiled salt is discarded, a life devoid of integrity often leads to exclusion from circles of trust and influence.

REFLECTION

Losing our saltiness doesn’t happen overnight—it’s often the result of small compromises that accumulate over time. What areas of your life need realignment with God's truth? Are there relationships that need restoration due to past compromises? Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal where renewal is needed.

1. Examine your heart. Are there areas where integrity has been compromised? Repent and seek God’s help.

2. Rebuild trust. If your credibility has been damaged, take steps to restore relationships through humility and accountability.

3. Stay connected. Engage in prayer, Bible study, and godly fellowship to guard your spiritual strength.

4. Live boldly. Stand firm in righteousness, even when it's unpopular. Be the salt that preserves and influences, not the one discarded.

PRAYER:

Dear Lord, please help me to walk in integrity, preserving the saltiness of my faith. Strengthen me to be unwavering in truth, to restore areas where I have fallen short, and to be faithful witness of Your love and righteousness. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
