THE SURROGATE JOURNEY: BIRTHING PURPOSE THROUGH OTHERS.  PART 3: THE WEIGHT OF THE WOMB — WHEN CARRYING GETS COMPLICATED Genesis 16:5–6 Then Sarai said to Abram, ‘You are responsible for the wrong I am suffering. I put my servant in your arms, and now that she knows she is pregnant, she despises me.’ Then Sarai mistreated Hagar; so she fled from her.” (NIV) šŸ” Quick Recap: In Part 2 , we met Hagar, the Egyptian servant chosen by Sarai to carry her child. Though not her dream, not her plan, and not her baby—she became the carrier of a promise she didn’t initiate. We learned how sometimes we are called to be the “other woman” in someone else’s destiny story—carrying, serving, interceding, and pushing someone else’s dream forward. 🤰 The Blessing that Brought Bitterness Hagar became pregnant. She was carrying the long-awaited seed. She should have been celebrated. But instead… she was mistreated. The one who chose her now chased her. The one who needed her now neglected her. The woman...

PRESERVING OUR INTEGRITY: BEING THE SALT OF THE EARTH PART 11

PRESERVING OUR INTEGRITY: BEING THE SALT OF THE EARTH PART 11

Matthew 5:13

"You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot."

Welcome to Part 11 of our series, "Preserving Our Integrity: Being the Salt of the Earth." In our previous discussions, we explored how Christians can lose their saltiness through immersion in secular environments, compromise, and exposure to sin. Today, we go further, examining the dangers of spiritual neglect and fear, and how they can weaken our effectiveness in preserving righteousness in the world.

How Christians Lose Their Saltiness:

1. Exposure to Impurities (Sin and Compromise)

When a Christian allows sin and compromise into their life, it corrupts their character, weakens their testimony, and dilutes their spiritual influence. Just as salt mixed with impurities loses its effectiveness, Christians who embrace ungodly values lose their ability to impact the world for Christ.

Example: Ananias and Sapphira (Acts 5:1-11) – Their deceit and compromise led to their downfall, serving as a warning to the early church about the dangers of corruption.

2. Neglect of Spiritual Disciplines

A life disconnected from prayer, Bible study, and fellowship becomes spiritually dry. When believers neglect these disciplines, they become spiritually weak, vulnerable to deception, and ineffective in their Christian walk.

Example: The church in Ephesus (Revelation 2:1-5) – Though they were active in good works, they had forsaken their first love, illustrating how busyness without intimacy with God leads to spiritual decline.

3. Fear of Persecution or Rejection

Some Christians, fearing opposition or societal rejection, compromise their faith instead of standing boldly for Christ. However, when we seek the world's approval over God's, we risk losing our spiritual distinctiveness.

Example: Believers in the early church (Revelation 2:13) – While some stood firm in persecution, others denied their faith to avoid suffering. This highlights the danger of prioritizing safety over faithfulness.

Scriptural Basis:

Matthew 5:13 – “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.”

Romans 12:2 – “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind...”

1 Corinthians 15:33 – “Do not be misled: ‘Bad company corrupts good character."

If salt loses its flavor, it is cast out and trampled underfoot. This is a sobering reminder that if we do not preserve our integrity and spiritual distinctiveness, we risk becoming ineffective and disregarded in God's kingdom.

Ask yourself:

Am I maintaining my saltiness, or am I blending into the world?

Are there areas in my life where compromise has weakened my Christian witness?

What spiritual disciplines do I need to revive to keep my faith strong?

Take a moment to examine your walk with Christ. Let’s commit to staying spiritually sharp, standing firm in our faith, and being a preserving force in the world around us.

PRAYER:

Heavenly Father, strengthen me to resist the pressures that seek to dilute my faith. Help me to stay rooted in Your Word, unwavering in my convictions, and bold in my witness. Renew my passion for holiness, that I may preserve Your truth in a world that desperately needs it. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
