THE SURROGATE JOURNEY: BIRTHING PURPOSE THROUGH OTHERS.  PART 3: THE WEIGHT OF THE WOMB — WHEN CARRYING GETS COMPLICATED Genesis 16:5–6 Then Sarai said to Abram, ‘You are responsible for the wrong I am suffering. I put my servant in your arms, and now that she knows she is pregnant, she despises me.’ Then Sarai mistreated Hagar; so she fled from her.” (NIV) 🔁 Quick Recap: In Part 2 , we met Hagar, the Egyptian servant chosen by Sarai to carry her child. Though not her dream, not her plan, and not her baby—she became the carrier of a promise she didn’t initiate. We learned how sometimes we are called to be the “other woman” in someone else’s destiny story—carrying, serving, interceding, and pushing someone else’s dream forward. 🤰 The Blessing that Brought Bitterness Hagar became pregnant. She was carrying the long-awaited seed. She should have been celebrated. But instead… she was mistreated. The one who chose her now chased her. The one who needed her now neglected her. The woman...

JUMPSTARTING YOUR LIFE—THE POWER OF DIVINE CONNECTIONS PART 3:THE COST OF STAYING DISCONNECTED

THE STORY: THE CAR STOPPED AGAIN!

Romans 1:11-12 (NIV)

"I long to see you so that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to make you strong—that is, that you and I may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith."

Welcome to Part 3 of our series, Jumpstarting Your Life: The Power of Divine Connection.
In Part 2, we learned that a jumpstart alone is not enough—you need consistent power to keep moving! Without staying connected to your fuel source, you risk frustration, stagnation, and missed opportunities. Just like a car that starts but doesn’t recharge, a life disconnected from its power source will eventually stop again.

PART 3: THE COST OF STAYING DISCONNECTED

THE STORY: THE CAR STOPPED AGAIN!

A few days after my landlady’s son got his car running, I saw something surprising—it had stopped again! He had been driving it without properly charging the battery, and eventually, it lost power once more.

That moment hit me: A temporary boost means nothing if you don’t stay connected to power.

WHEN DISCONNECTION COSTS YOU EVERYTHING

Many people receive a divine boost but later struggle because they fail to maintain their power source.

Spiritually – You had a revival moment, but without prayer and study, you feel dry again. (“Remain in me, and I will remain in you.” – John 15:4)

Physically – You started working out, but without consistency, you lost your fitness. (“Discipline produces a harvest of righteousness.” – Hebrews 12:11)

Socially – You mended a broken relationship but failed to invest in it, and it fell apart again. (“A friend loves at all times.” – Proverbs 17:17)

Financially – You received financial help, but without wise management, you ended up in debt again. (“The wise store up choice food and oil.” – Proverbs 21:20)

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU STAY DISCONNECTED?

When a car battery isn’t charged, it eventually dies again—and the same applies to life.

1️⃣ You Become Weaker Over Time Disconnection drains you. (“Without me, you can do nothing.” – John 15:5)

2️⃣ You Miss Out on Opportunities – You might have been ready for your breakthrough, but because you disconnected, you weren’t prepared when the moment came.

3️⃣ You Start Depending on Emergency Boosts – Instead of having a sustainable power source, you constantly look for people to ‘jumpstart’ you again.

4️⃣ You Risk Breaking Down Completely – A dead battery doesn’t just stop working—it can damage other parts of the car! Disconnection from God, growth, and the right relationships can ruin other areas of your life.

LESSONS FROM JESUS: STAYING CONNECTED TO THE VINE

Jesus compared our relationship with Him to a vine and branches.

A branch cut off from the vine withers and becomes useless.

Only those connected to the vine bear fruit consistently. (John 15:4-6 – “If you remain in me, you will bear much fruit.”)

A one-time spiritual boost is not enough—you need constant connection.

HOW TO STAY CONNECTED TO POWER

Make Daily Investments in Your Growth – Feed yourself spiritually, mentally, and emotionally. (“Faith comes by hearing.” – Romans 10:17)

Stay Connected to the Right People – Surround yourself with people who fuel you, not drain you. (“Two are better than one.” – Ecclesiastes 4:9-10)

Commit to Consistency – Power doesn’t come from one-time efforts but from daily discipline. (“Do not grow weary in doing good.” – Galatians 6:9)

Stay Plugged into God – He is your ultimate power source. (“The Lord is my strength.” – Psalm 28:7)

REFLECTION:

What areas of your life feel disconnected from your power source?

Have you been depending on occasional boosts instead of sustainable growth?

What one habit can you start today to stay connected to power?

PRAYER:

Lord, I don’t want to keep running on empty. Help me stay connected to You, my source of strength. Give me the wisdom to build sustainable habits, the discipline to stay consistent, and the right people to encourage me. I choose to remain plugged into Your power. Amen.

COMING NEXT: "WHEN THE CONNECTION SPARKS BUT DOESN’T START"

In Part 4, we’ll explore what happens when you’re connected but still not seeing results—and how to overcome spiritual, physical, and emotional roadblocks.

Reflect on areas in your life where you may feel disconnected from your power source. Identify one habit you can start today to restore and maintain that vital connection—be it through daily prayer, consistent exercise, nurturing relationships, or prudent financial management.
