FROM SOLITUDE TO SIGNIFICANCE PART 9: FROM PRESENCE TO PURPOSE MARK 1:35–39 (NLT) “We must go on to other towns as well, and I will preach to them, too. That is why I came.” — Mark 1:38 (NLT) In Part 8, we explored what God builds in us during our private moments with Him. We discovered that God uses the secret place to shape our character, strengthen our inner lives, refine our motives, develop our discernment, and prepare us to serve others responsibly. We also learned that the ultimate goal of solitude is not to keep us hidden forever. Rather, our private walk with God should influence how we live, how we serve, how we make decisions, and how we fulfil our responsibilities. But this brings us to another important question: What happens when the time we spend in God's presence begins to shape the direction of our lives? Can we genuinely claim to be hearing God if His Word does not influence our decisions? Can we say we are growing spiritually if our growth never affec...

FROM SOLITUDE TO SIGNIFICANCE PART 6: WHEN EVERYONE IS LOOKING FOR YOU Mark 1:35–38 (NLT) “ The next morning Jesus got up long before daybreak and went out to an isolated place to pray. Later, Simon and the others went out to find him. When they found him, they said, ‘Everyone is looking for you.’ But Jesus replied, ‘We must go on to other towns as well, and I will preach to them, too. That is why I came.’”   In Part 5, we explored an important principle: before you pour out, you must learn to receive. We looked at the importance of meeting God in the secret place before facing the demands of the day. Just as a phone needs to be charged before it can serve you throughout the day, we need to cultivate our relationship with God rather than continually pouring ourselves out without making room for Him. We established that the secret place is not a place to hide from responsibility. It is a place to prepare for responsibility. We also learned that we should not wait until we ...

FROM SOLITUDE TO SIGNIFICANCE PART 5: CHARGE BEFORE YOU GO Mark 1:35 (NLT) “Before daybreak the next morning, Jesus got up and went out to an isolated place to pray.”   In Part 4, we established that being hidden does not mean being forgotten. We learned that God often uses hidden seasons to develop our character, strengthen our faith, correct our motives, and prepare us for greater responsibility. We discovered that God is not only interested in what we accomplish; He is also interested in who we become. We also used the illustration of bread to understand the importance of process. Before bread reaches the table, it must pass through preparation. In the same way, we must not rush God's process simply because we are eager to fulfil our purpose. We ended with this powerful truth: Sometimes, God hides you because He is building you. But now comes another question. If God is building us in secret, how do we receive the strength to continue? How do we face the demands of...

FROM SOLITUDE TO SIGNIFICANCE PART 4: WHEN GOD BUILDS YOU IN SECRET

FROM SOLITUDE TO SIGNIFICANCE PART 4: WHEN GOD BUILDS YOU IN SECRET Mark 1:35–37 (NLT) “Before daybreak the next morning, Jesus got up and went out to an isolated place to pray. Later, Simon and the others went out to find him. When they found him, they said, ‘Everyone is looking for you.’” In Part 3, we looked at the power of solitude .  We established that solitude is not the same as loneliness. Loneliness says, “Nobody is with me.” Solitude says, “I have intentionally stepped away so I can be with God.” We learned that Jesus deliberately withdrew from the noise because He understood the importance of creating space for the Father. We also discovered that solitude: creates space for God; helps us hear what noise can hide; exposes what is happening inside us; protects us from the pressure of the crowd; strengthens our inner life; helps us distinguish urgency from priority; and allows God to reset our spiritual compass. We ended with this important thought: So...
