THE UNPROFITABLE PROFIT: GAINS THAT BANKRUPT THE SOUL

PART 6: THE WAY BACK — RECOVERING FROM UNPROFITABLE PROFIT

Malachi 3:7

“Return unto me… and I will return unto you, saith the Lord.”

In Part 5, we reached the breaking point. Through Abena’s story, we saw that: You can have everything and still feel empty. The soul eventually cries out when it has been ignored. Success cannot replace true fulfillment. “How did I gain all this… and lose myself?”

After the loss… after the emptiness… after the realization—one question remains:

Can I come back?” And the answer is not maybe. The answer is yes. Because the God who warns about losing the soul…is also the God who restores it.

The Way Back — Recovering From Unprofitable Profit

Recovery does not begin with perfection. It begins with returning. Not excuses. Not explanations. But surrender. Because no matter how far you have gone, you are never too far to come back. You don’t need a new life… you need a realignment.

Kofi’s Return

Kofi didn’t plan to drift this far. What started as “just this once” became a pattern. What was once a struggle became normal. And now, he felt it—the distance, the emptiness, the quiet loss.

One evening, sitting alone, he replayed his journey. The moments he ignored. The warnings he silenced. The choices he justified. For the first time, he didn’t defend anything. He just admitted: “I have drifted.” No audience. No image to protect. Just honesty. And in that moment, something shifted. Not around him… but within him. He didn’t have everything figured out. But he made one decision: To return.

He picked up his Bible again. His prayers were simple… but real. And slowly: Peace began to return. Clarity began to return. Sensitivity began to return. Not instantly… but genuinely. Because what he thought he had lost forever…was waiting for his return.

What Really Happened?

Kofi didn’t recover by effort alone. He recovered by alignment. This is the truth: God is not hiding from you. You are the one who drifted. And when you return: You regain what was lost internally. You restore what was broken spiritually. You reconnect where you were disconnected. He lost peace… and found it again. He lost direction… and regained it again. Because restoration is not a myth—it is a promise.

Reflection

Ask yourself:

Where have I drifted from?

What have I lost that I need to recover?

Am I ready to return… or still making excuses?

Because the distance between you and God is not measured in miles…

but in moments of surrender.

Call to Action

Come back.

Drop the excuses

Release the guilt

Take the step

You don’t need to fix everything first.

You just need to return.

Start again:

Pray again

Study again

Align again

Because the way back is not complicated…

it is intentional.

Prayer

Lord, I return to You. Where I have drifted, realign me. Where I have lost sensitivity, restore me. Help me to walk in truth again and value my soul above every gain. Receive me, restore me, and rebuild me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
